Outline Description of Module
The onset of Viking attacks on western Europe and Britain is one of the most dramatic episodes in the history of the late 1st millennium CE. The nature of Viking impact on the British Isles is controversial and a matter for much modern debate on its scale and significance. This module provides an introduction to the archaeological evidence for Scandinavian activity in Britain and Ireland c.800-1050 CE.
